Introduction to this document

Contractor briefing

When contractors’ employees or subcontractors arrive on site you need to exchange information about any risks created by the work and explain the fire procedures etc. Use our briefing to provide a prompt of what’s needed.

What’s  covered?

Our document is designed to be tailored to your particular needs. As a minimum you’ll need to complete the details of managers to contact in the event of queries, accidents or permits required. Spaces are provided where applicable.

The Contractor Briefing begins with brief instructions to your company representative who will meet contractors’ personnel on arrival. It covers the use of your more detailed site safety rules (we recommend these are also written out), the issuing of badges and the need to run through the briefing checklist.

It includes an initial discussion about the scope of the work which will enable your representative to identify whether a manager needs to intervene and whether formal permits to work might also be required. It then lists what needs to be covered for safe working on site including the fire procedure, location of any asbestos-containing materials, smoking rules, accident reporting etc. It ends with the contact details for the manager in the event of any concerns or queries.
